3 Major RAW Food Myths

Myth Number One: "It's all (raw food) or nothing - for a health benefit."
The simple truth is that a small change to your diet like, eating fruit for breakfast instead of factory-farmed ham and eggs on a roll - can greatly improve your health.

Myth Number Two: "All raw food must be eaten cold."
Absolutely not! In fact, most raw food experts would agree that food warmed up to 104 degrees is still considered raw. So, enjoy warm bread or soup as often as you like.

Myth Number Three: "A raw food diet is only fruits and vegetables."
Actually, many raw food lovers enjoy a wide variety of foods, including, nuts, seeds, nut "milks", sea vegetables, sprouted grains and fresh juices. You can even try some fermented beverages like Kombucha or processed foods like miso.

Myth Number Four: "Natural is the same as Organic."
Actually, no. The following is from the Organic Consumers Association.

So-Called "Natural" Cereals with GMOs?

Federal law requires that organic food products be produced promoting ecological sustainability, without the toxic inputs and genetically engineered ingredients common in the conventional food system.

Increasingly, organic products are forced to compete with products that claim to be "natural".
There are no guidelines or restrictions for foods labeled "natural". The term often indicates nothing more than meaningless marketing hype promoted by corporate interests seeking to cash in on the consumer desire for food produced in a genuinely sustainable manner.

A new video from the Cornucopia Institute explores the vast differences between organic cereal and granola products and so-called natural products, which contain ingredients grown on conventional farms where the use of toxic pesticides and genetically engineered organisms is widespread.

Unlike the organic label, no government agency, certification group or other independent entity fully defines the term “natural” on processed food packages or ensures that the claim has merit.
There are vast differences between organic cereal and granola products and so-called natural products, which contain ingredients grown on conventional farms where the use of toxic pesticides and genetically engineered organisms is widespread.

Our analysis reveals that “natural” products—using conventional ingredients—often are priced higher than equivalent organic products. This suggests that some companies are taking advantage of consumer confusion. To find brands that are committed to sustainable agriculture, avoiding genetically engineered ingredients and supporting organic farmers get informed, read labels and avoid corn, soy, sugar beets, canola and what ever else has been illegally added to our farms by Monsanto.  Shame on them. BOYCOTT! They only care about money. Stop giving it to them.  If the products that contain GMO ingredients stop selling, they will quit using the products.  Genetically Modified Foods are proven to be unhealthy and unsafe.

  1. Myth of the night. You must not mix vegetables and fruit. Nonsense. We mix fruits and vegetables all the time. In fact green smoothies are just plain better with both. Why would Mother Nature make eating so complicated?

  2. NATURAL IS NOT ORGANIC. Natural means nothing. It is a marketing ploy that misleads consumers into thinking they are getting a safe healthy choice. Choose organic. Organic is a safe healthy choice.
